If the Turnpike system is fully funded by tolls, then do you mean to say that the $45 million allocated for 2007-2008 out of the Department of Transportation's funds for work on the Suncoast II project as noted in the FL Transportation Commission response does not come from tax dollars?

I believe this money comes from tax-funded allocations out of the FDOT budget. This means that amounts allocated to Suncoast II would be monies not available to improve other roads on the FIHS, such as I-75 or other free roads. Please advise if I am wrong in my understanding.

I appreciate your clarification on this point. If it is true, then the FAQ on FTE's site should be revised to reflect the reality of the funding situation for the Florida Turnpike system more accurately.
